About Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad
Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, was founded on October 2, 1972, by the Andhra Pradesh Legislature as India’s first Technological University. For over 44 years, it has been a leader in delivering high-quality, relevant technological education in the state. In 2008, after 36 years of operation, the university underwent a restructuring process, splitting into four distinct universities as per Government Ordinance No. 13 (dated August 18, 2008) and Act No. 30 (dated September 2008). The newly restructured institution was renamed Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH).
Located on a vast 89-acre campus in Kukatpally, Hyderabad, JNTUH encompasses four constituent engineering colleges: one in Hyderabad, and others in Kondagattu (Jagithyal), Manthani, and Sultanpur (Medak District), along with 15 additional units on the Hyderabad campus. The university offers an extensive range of academic programs, including B.Tech. in 24 disciplines, B.Pharm at the undergraduate level, a 5-year integrated dual-degree Master’s program, M.Tech in 68 disciplines, M.Pharm in 11 disciplines, M.Sc. in 10 disciplines, as well as MCA, MBA, and Double Degree Programs at the postgraduate level. Additionally, JNTUH provides M.S., M.Phil., and Ph.D. research programs in engineering, technology, science, management, and humanities.
JNTUH has 423 affiliated colleges across Telangana and boasts a student enrollment of over 350,000. The university has also established collaborative partnerships through Memoranda of Understanding with several national and international organizations, further enhancing its global presence and research initiatives.
