Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the B.Sc. Nursing programme must fulfill the following requirements:

• Applicants must be at least 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the admission year.
• Candidates should have successfully completed 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the State Government, Central Government, Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS), or the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
• The qualifying examination must include English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as subjects, and candidates must have passed each subject individually.
• A minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English is required. Candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) are eligible with a minimum aggregate of 40% in these subjects, as per applicable regulations.
• Students who have completed the Vocational Higher Secondary Course (VHSC) conducted by the Kerala Board are also eligible, provided they have studied at least five subjects, including Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, along with their vocational subject.
• International applicants, including Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Bhutanese, and Tibetan refugee candidates, are eligible for admission if their 12th-grade qualification is recognized as equivalent by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) or another competent authority, in accordance with the guidelines of the Indian Nursing Council (INC).

Examination Pattern

Examination & Assessment

• University examinations are conducted at the end of each academic year.
• Students must secure a minimum of 50% marks separately in both theory and practical examinations to successfully complete each subject.
• Regular class tests and internal assessments are conducted throughout the programme to monitor academic progress. Internal assessment marks are submitted to the university for both theory and practical components.
• A model examination is organized prior to the university examinations to help students prepare effectively.
• The programme follows a carry-over system, allowing students to continue to the next academic year while clearing pending subjects. However, all first-year subjects must be passed before appearing for third-year examinations, and all second-year subjects must be cleared before appearing for fourth-year examinations.

This programme provides students with a strong foundation in nursing science through a balanced combination of classroom instruction, laboratory practice, and clinical training, preparing graduates for professional nursing careers in hospitals, healthcare organizations, and community health services.
